In a new interview with respected publication Construction Weekly – Inside DMDC’s meteoric rise – DMDC CEO Raji Daou talks about the company’s explosive growth, winning strategy, key milestones and the company’s vision for the future.

During the interview, Daou outlines the importance of the initial vision. In the early days, the focus was on creating meaningful, design-led homes rather than just chasing market share.

“We weren’t thinking in numbers. We were thinking in impact,” says Daou.

This foundational principle helped cultivate a culture of accountability and agility. DMDC were able to scale with ease, maintaining control as the company enjoyed a period of hyper growth. Today, the DMDC team comprises over 800 design and construction professionals. They are luxury home builders, a commercial construction company and home interior design specialists, all in one.

DMDC's meteoric growth was helped by a blend of strategic innovation and a commitment to its core values. Central to these values was the desire to create a culture of accountability and agility. This culture enabled the company to easily adapt to market changes and maintain robust standards across all operations. During the interview, Daou emphasises the importance of precise and refined processes, but also DMDC’s talented and dedicated people. As Daou says, “People buy into people.” This core philosophy enabled DMDC to scale to a team of over 800 professionals while maintaining quality and operational excellence.

DMDC’s specialities are various, ranging from home and retail design development to office space design. Yet, a major landmark in their journey was the launch of DMDC Estates. The company’s luxury property builder division, DMDC Estates enables DMDC to take complete creative ownership of projects, from design to execution. Daou says this division will set a new benchmark for high-end living, in Dubai and beyond.

Daou’s future plans involve making everything in-house. This involves the expansion of the company's headquarters and the creation of a fully in-house joinery facility. He says the DMDC joinery is a natural progression. For the company to continue to fulfil its promise of exceptional quality, joinery was the next milestone. DMDC has acquired a warehouse of over 20,000 square feet, hired an expert team and purchased cutting-edge joinery equipment from Europe. Daou says he hopes to have the facility up and running by mid-September 2025.

Daou says he truly believes that the luxury construction industry is in its infancy stage. The company plans to reinvest more money in DMDC Estates and, eventually, expand into other Emirates throughout the region. 

 “We’re just getting started,” says Daou.
